Why 2014?

By PAM BERNS
While the Senate and House battle out a health care bill, many of us are wondering why we are waiting for 2014 before insurance companies quit cherry-picking the healthy and cease discriminating against the sick. According to recent figures of 45,000 per year who die needlessly because they don’t have health insurance, why must hundreds of thousands of Americans die waiting needlessly? The day a bill is passed, insurers should not be able to continue to discriminate against the vulnerable. This should be a moral imperative.

Why 2014?
Good point. A quarter-million people are going to "die needlessly" while waiting for this thing to kick in?
