Iraq Insanity

By PAM BERNS
The last election revealed a mandate from the American people. We let our representatives know that we wanted to bring our troops home. Now Bush envisions U.S. involvement for decades to come—similar to our presence in Korea— according to White House spokesman, Tony Snow.

Obviously, Bush sees our military presence as protecting U.S. interests abroad. In this respect, oil companies can reap the benefits of developing Iraq’s oil fields without interference by their citizens and radical elements for decades. This is a dangerous and expensive endeavor.

We need to get out of Iraq, develop alternatives to oil and stay out of the affairs of other countries or we will continue to create wars to exploit the natural resources of countries who have what we want. And this is insanity.
