Character, Not Money

By PAM BERNS
As we get closer to the primaries, you would think that the media would be talking about the issues facing our country and how each candidate would address those issues. Unfortunately, again the press—especially television—concentrates on polls and the front runners in terms of donations. This is especially true in Iowa, where  pundits are claiming that there is a dead heat between Clinton and Obama. You would think that Biden had dropped out. Yet Edwards is still gaining ground in many places. Just because Clinton and Obama have raised huge amounts of money from rich donors does not mean that either would be a better president than one who does not receive the financial backing. We need to get money out of our elections. Would Lincoln be electable today? I think not.
